The Literacy Council of Prince George's County serves as the primary non-profit organization for the advocacy and implementation of literacy programs in the county. The Council provides services for adult learners in acquiring, improving and applying basic literacy skills including reading, writing, math and oral communication. These services empower individuals to realize their full potential as individuals and as contributing members of their families and community.
Our students are diverse. You'd be surprised how much education and experience they already have. To learn more about our students, click here. The Literacy Council is supported in part by funding from the Maryland State Department of Education Literacy Works Program, the Office of the County Executive, the Prince George's County Council, a Community Development Block Grant and contributions from foundations, corporations and individuals.
