English Classes                     GED and Basic Skills Classes

English Classes :: Fall Registration
The Literacy Council offers English classes to adults from non English-speaking countries.  These classes incorporate English vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation practice into important lessons about parenting, employment, safety, culture, and civics.  Classes range from beginning to advanced.

Registration is a two-day process. All learners must complete the registration process to begin classes.  Learners attend an orientation session and complete enrollment paperwork and preliminary goal-setting on the first day of registration. Learners take a placement test on the second day of registration in order to be placed in an appropriate level for class.  Please call 301.699.9770 with any questions.

High School Diploma Preparation & Basic Reading :: Fall Registration
The Literacy Council offers traditional GED-preparation classes and the External Diploma Program to adults pursuing their high school diplomas.  Instruction in basic reading and writing is also offered to beginning readers.
