To become a volunteer tutor, select the monthly workshop series that is best for you and attend all five sessions to complete your training. Pre-registration, a completed tutor profile, and $30 book/registration fee must be received at least one day before the first session.

The Literacy Council of Prince George’s County seeks dynamic and passionate teachers for our Family Literacy Program.

• Candidates needed to teach Adult ESL classes;
• Candidates needed to teach parenting component. Must have experience teaching parents life skills, knowledge of PGCPS parent portal necessary. Must be proficient in Spanish and English;
• Candidates needed to teach children’s K-8 component. Must have teaching experience; or
• Candidates needed for “literacy” rich child care component. Must have teaching experience.

Candidates must be able to collaborate with others to offer a comprehensive program for children and adults that meet the federal guidelines for Family Literacy. Classes held 3 evenings per week; average 8 hrs/week; $20-$26/hour. September start. Bachelors Degree required; commitment to helping families become successful required.
