The Gift of Literacy… Priceless

For the 19-year-old young man who has steadily
progressed
from the lowest level of literacy through his work with one of our basic literacy tutors over the past two years, and the 50-year-old Nigerian immigrant who – despite having no formal education – has worked her way up through our ESL classes into Adult Basic Education classes, and the 71-year-old grandmother who enrolled in our GED classes and earned her high school diploma, the gift of literacy this holiday season is priceless.

By engaging hundreds of supporters like you as volunteers and donors, the Literacy Council of Prince George’s County,
a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, has been able to spread the gift of adult literacy year-round and help 1,200 of our neighbors, family members, and friends develop the literacy skills they need to earn a high school diploma, make a living wage, and actively participate in their children’s education and communities.

Please help us continue to “spread literacy” this winter with your tax-deductible gift:

• A $10 gift covers the enrollment fee for one learner in the External Diploma Program;
• A $25 gift covers the cost of a study dictionary for an ESL learner;
• A $45 gift covers a learner’s GED testing fee in Maryland; and
• A $100 gift covers the cost of one learner assessment.
• A $500 gift covers the training cost for 8 new volunteer tutors.

Become a part of our effort to “spread literacy” today by making a tax-deductible donation. Remember, no gift is too large or small!

We thank you for your spirit – and acts– of generosity this holiday. Donate now through
