About Sweet Reads

You know there’s nothing yummier than sinking your teeth into layers upon layers of creamy, sweet, frosting sitting atop a delectable, moistly-baked treat. And here at the Literacy Council of Prince George’s County, we know there's nothing more fulfilling than sinking your teeth into an inspiring, romantic, or suspenseful good read. Can you imagine what happens when the two come together? We have an opportunity to make a difference!

The Literacy Council invites you to join us for Sweet Reads, a series of intimate gatherings designed to celebrate our passion for reading and our penchant for sweets. Sweet Reads pairs authors and local bakers together to create evenings of indulgence for bookworms and foodies, all while raising awareness about low adult literacy and local programs that help stem the problem.

Literacy Council programs are supported in part by funding from Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing, & Regulation,  and the U.S. Department of Education.

We are an equal opportunity employer, M/F, handicapped, veterans. We provide educational programs to all persons within our capabilities, regardless of gender, race, national origin, sexual orientation or handicapped status. Hearing impaired individuals may contact us through Maryland Relay system by dialing 711

The Literacy Council is a 501(c)(3) organization. Your contribution is tax deductible for the fair market value. A copy of our current financial statement is available upon request by contacting the Literacy Council of Prince George's County, MD, Inc., 6532 Adelphi Road, Suite 101, Hyattsville, MD 20782.
