Seeking an enthusiastic, self-starter with
passion for volunteerism to fill a part-time
Volunteer Maryland Coordinator (VMC) position.
The VMC will work
to recruit and coordinate volunteers that will
serve as tutors, teachers, teaching assistants,
assessors, and counselors for adults seeking to
gain or improve literacy skills. The VMC will
seek to recruit 55 new volunteers.
This is an 11
month, part-time (20 hours/week) position as a
member of the Volunteer Maryland AmeriCorps
program serving at the Literacy Council of
Prince George’s County. The service year begins
on September 15, 2010 and concludes on August 2,
2011. Extensive training, $6,500 living stipend,
$2,675 education award, student loan deferment
and valuable networking opportunities provided.
Candidates must
possess and demonstrate excellence in the
following areas:
Verbal and written communications, computer
skills, problem solving and conflict resolution,
leadership, public speaking, and commitment to
community service. Applicants must have reliable
